McRib Copycat Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the Pork Patties:

    • 1 lb ground pork
    • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
    • 1 tsp onion powder
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp black pepper
    • 1 tbsp water
  • For the BBQ Sauce:

    • 1/2 cup ketchup
    • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
    • 2 tbsp brown sugar
    • 1 tbsp molasses
    • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tsp smoked paprika
    • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
    • 1/2 tsp onion powder
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Sandwich:

    • 4 hoagie rolls or sandwich buns
    • 8 dill pickle slices
    • 1/2 white onion, thinly sliced
    • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting the buns)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pork Patties:

    • In a bowl, mix the ground pork with smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and water until well combined.
    • Divide the pork mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a rectangular patty (to mimic the McRib shape) about the length of your hoagie rolls.
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked through and golden brown on the outside. Set aside.
  2. Make the BBQ Sauce:

    • In a small saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
    • Stir occasionally and simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Assemble the McRib:

    • Toast the hoagie rolls with a little butter in a skillet until lightly browned.
    • Dip each pork patty into the BBQ sauce, coating it generously.
    • Place the sauced pork patty on the bottom half of the roll. Top with a couple of dill pickle slices and some thinly sliced onions.
    • Place the top half of the bun on the sandwich and press down gently.
  4. Serve:

    • Serve your McRib copycat sandwiches hot with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.

Enjoy your homemade version of the iconic McRib, packed with smoky and tangy goodness!
