Creamy Dream: Copycat Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Romano cheese (optional for extra flavor)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 lb fettuccine pasta (or pasta of your choice)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:

    • Boil the fettuccine (or other pasta) according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Melt the Butter:

    • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  3. Add Garlic and Cream:

    • Stir in the minced garlic (if using) and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Then, slowly add the heavy cream. Continue to stir the mixture until it’s well-combined and starts to simmer (about 5-6 minutes). Be sure not to let it boil.
  4. Incorporate Cheese:

    • Reduce the heat to low, and gradually add the Parmesan cheese, whisking constantly to melt it into the sauce. Add the Romano cheese (if using) for a richer flavor.
  5. Season the Sauce:

    • Season with salt, black pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg (optional). Continue stirring until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  6. Combine Pasta and Sauce:

    • Toss the cooked fettuccine pasta in the Alfredo sauce until it’s well-coated.
  7. Serve Immediately:

    • Serve the Alfredo pasta while it's warm and creamy. Garnish with extra Parmesan, freshly ground black pepper, and parsley, if desired.

Tips:

  • For a thinner sauce, you can add a little milk or pasta water to adjust the consistency.
  • If you want a lighter version, you can substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream.
  • This sauce is great with added grilled chicken, shrimp, or broccoli for a heartier meal.

Enjoy this Olive Garden-inspired Alfredo sauce with your favorite pasta or as a dipping sauce for breadsticks!
