White Castle Copycat Sliders
Ingredients:
- For the Sliders:
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
- 1/2 cup onion, finely minced
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 slider buns or small dinner rolls
- 8 slices of American cheese (optional)
- 16 dill pickle slices
Instructions:
Prepare the Beef:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a 9x13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef with the onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Shape the Patties:
- Press the beef mixture evenly onto the baking sheet, spreading it out to about 1/4-inch thickness. The beef should cover the entire baking sheet in one large, even layer.
- Use a knife to score the beef into small square patties (about the size of your slider buns).
- Bake the beef for about 10-12 minutes or until cooked through. The beef will shrink slightly and the edges will brown.
Cook the Onions:
- While the beef is baking, in a large skillet, add finely minced onions and water. Cook the onions over medium heat until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Set aside.
Assemble the Sliders:
- Once the beef is done, remove it from the oven and drain any excess grease.
- Place a slice of American cheese (if using) on each beef patty.
- Using a spatula, cut along the scored lines and lift the square patties.
- To assemble, place a small spoonful of the cooked onions on the bottom of each slider bun, then add a beef patty, and top with a pickle slice. Finish with the top bun.
Steam the Buns (Optional):
- For that authentic White Castle experience, lightly steam the assembled sliders by covering them with a piece of parchment paper and microwaving them for 10-15 seconds, or place them in a warm oven for a few minutes.
Serve:
- Serve immediately with fries, ketchup, and mustard for dipping.
Enjoy your homemade White Castle sliders, perfect for a snack or a quick meal!
